About Tara

Tara has over 20 years of experience as a special educator, school administrator, and learning specialist. She holds a Master's in special education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and an advanced certificate in supervision and administration from Hunter College. Tara is a New York State licensed special ed teacher and school building and school district leader, a NJ licensed learning disabilities teacher consultant, and a PCI certified parent coach.

Tara started her career teaching preschool and elementary-aged students in special education and inclusion settings, in both public and independent schools. For nine years, she served as Head of the Lower School at Aaron School, an independent special education school in Manhattan, where she worked closely with Christine as Head of the Upper School. Together, they coached and supervised teachers in differentiating instruction and supporting a range of social and regulatory needs, monitored curriculum implementation, conducted intakes for admissions, and collaborated with service providers.

After moving to South Orange, New Jersey, Tara worked at Montclair Kimberley Academy as the Primary School Learning Specialist. In this role, she co-led the Student Services Team, provided intervention to students diagnosed with one or more learning disabilities, supported families through the referral and evaluation process, and supported teachers in implementing student action plans. Now, Tara is a parent coach in private practice and an educational advocate with LEA.
